What to Expect
All clients will have an office visit with the doctor before any procedures are performed. We believe that clients should be involved in the decisions that affect their pets. Recommendations for diagnostics and therapy can only be given after a thorough evaluation of the patient and the patient's history.
Scheduling Your Appointment
Note: Routine preventative healthcare (e.g. vaccinations) is not available at NFVS. It is asked that, unless medical factors dictate otherwise, all vaccinations be current prior to referral.
Patients are seen at North Florida Veterinary Specialists, P.A. by referral only. This means that you will need to discuss referral options with your family veterinarian and determine if your pet should be referred to us. We can contact your family veterinarian to assist in arranging a referral to see us. After the referral has been established, please call us to schedule an appointment. Our office is open from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday. The phone number for our Southside location is (904) 646-1279 and the phone number for our Orange Park location is (904) 278-0287 ext. 10.
Preparing for your visit
To provide a comprehensive exam, the initial visit with the specialist may require 1-3 hours. Please bring copies of all medical records and x-rays with you, as well as a list of medications and nutritional supplements your pet is currently receiving. Please do not feed your pet after 10pm the night before your appointment. Your pet can have water at all times unless instructed otherwise.
Payment Policy
Based on the written estimate given during the consultation, a deposit will be collected prior to any diagnostic test or procedure. The balance of the bill is due upon completion of your pet's visit. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, personal checks and cash. We also offer Care Credit financing.
